This week we’re bringing you a new segment called. “Tool Time with Power”. We are going to be showcasing some of our internal Rigging Tools over the next couple of weeks.
Like in any industry, it’s important to have good tools in your arsenal. The B.F.G.of Mutiny’s animation team is “RigAMortis” , also known as “rAm“. The development of rAm was made to fit our internal process. Most of the self Auto Riggers, didn’t allow you customize the rigs enough or had heavy performance issues when using multiple rigs in one scene.
The first feature of rAm included the ability to bring a pre-defined file, that contained all the joints needed to rig a character. The joint configuration allows proper Humanoid Mecanim setup in Unity as well as utilizing HIK system in Maya to transfer and apply MoCap to our custom rigs. Included in the basic Skeleton is a full Face Skeleton setup to allow for proper FaceFX setup. Once joints are placed and orientated, with a click of a button the Skeleton Hierarchy is built for you. Joints are mirrored to the right side so only need to setup the left side and rAm will take care of the mirroring for you.
